Om Prakash Garg ji, who was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since his childhood, breathed his last at a hospital in Patna on Saturday (November 6).

 

Veteran Swayamsevak Om Prakash Garg ji passed away, after prolonged illness, in a private hospital in Patna on Saturday (November 6). He was 95.

Garg ji was born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh on June 21, 926.

In 1946 in Varanasi, he got the first-year training of the RSS and was posted as Nagar Pracharak in UP’s Farrukhabad. In 1947, he got the second-year training of the RSS and posted as Zila Pracharak in Farrukhabad.

In 1954, he got the third-year training of the RSS from Nagpur. In 2007, he became a Kendriya Mantri in the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP).

On his passing away, the Vishva Hindu Parishad offered its condolences, posting on social media “संघ के कर्मठ स्वयंसेवक, वरिष्ठ प्रचारक व हिन्दू  समाज के प्रखर चिन्तक के रूप में संपूर्ण जीवन तथा उसके बाद देह का भी समाज व राष्ट्र को दान करने वाले श्री ओमप्रकाश गर्ग(95) को विनम्र श्रद्धांजलि..”

All his life Garg ji was dedicated to the service of Maa Bharati. In 1991, the RSS entrusted him the work of the organisation in Nepal.

Even in his death, Garg ji did not forget to serve the humanity. He donated his eyes and body to Delhi-based Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti.

In 1960, he was also entrusted with the responsibility of Sangathan Mantri of Lucknow of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS).

Since 2015, he was a member of the management committee of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP).

Vinod Bansal, national spokesperson of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), offered his condolences saying “श्री ओमप्रकाश गर्ग (95) एक ऐसे महात्मा थे जिन्होंने संघ के प्रचारक व हिन्दू  समाज के प्रखर चिन्तक के रूप में तो संपूर्ण जीवन समर्पित किया ही, मृत्योपरांत नेत्रदान व देह दान कर हम सभी को एक महान प्रेरणा भी दी। सादर विनम्र श्रद्धांजलि..”
