On his passing away, the Vishva Hindu Parishad offered its condolences, posting on social media “संघ के कर्मठ स्वयंसेवक, वरिष्ठ प्रचारक व हिन्दू  समाज के प्रखर चिन्तक के रूप में संपूर्ण जीवन तथा उसके बाद देह का भी समाज व राष्ट्र को दान करने वाले श्री ओमप्रकाश गर्ग(95) को विनम्र श्रद्धांजलि..”

All his life Garg ji was dedicated to the service of Maa Bharati. In 1991, the RSS entrusted him the work of the organisation in Nepal.

Even in his death, Garg ji did not forget to serve the humanity. He donated his eyes and body to Delhi-based Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti.

In 1960, he was also entrusted with the responsibility of Sangathan Mantri of Lucknow of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS).

Since 2015, he was a member of the management committee of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP).
