Kochi: Major flaws have been detected in the Parvahan website’s Sarathi Software of Ministry of Road Transportation and highways, which have generated concerns among vehicle users. All gearless automatic card riders are now added to the category of physically challenged people. Earlier, in the licences owned by people riding automatic cars, it was written as ‘LMV-auto gear’. But from now the new card will have ‘adapted’ instead of ‘LMV-auto gear’. This is in the category of vehicles used by the physically challenged category.
In the case of auto-rickshaw drivers, there is no ‘three-wheeler’ option in the new software, and hence they are just given the choice of e-rickshaw. Drivers are worried whether they will be allowed only to ride e-rickshaw with this license. But officials have assured them that they can ride old autos with the same license.
They are also concerned about their insurance claims being rejected in case of an accident considering the differences in the license. Being nationwide software, the local officials are helpless in finding a permanent solution to this.
