The Taliban captured the Norwegian embassy in Kabul on Wednesday (September 8), smashed the wine bottles, and destroyed the children’s books.
“Taliban has now taken over the Norwegian Embassy in Kabul. Say they will return it to us later. But first wine bottles are to be smashed and children’s books destroyed. Guns, apparently less dangerous,” posted the Norwegian Ambassador in Iran Sigvald Hauge on Twitter.
The Taliban had captured Kabul on August 15 and did not extend the deadline for the withdrawal of the American-led NATO forces. The deadline for complete withdrawal was August 31.
Once the NATO troops left, the Taliban started overtaking and searching foreign embassies.
Russia, China and Pakistan embassies are not shut in Kabul and are doing business as usual. Other countries have shut their embassies for the safety of their staff.
The countries have not yet recognised the new government in Afghanistan.
The Taliban has declared that it would rule the country strictly by the Sharia, thereby taking away all the freedom of women and minorities.
Women are not allowed education and are not allowed to go out alone. They also can not work outside houses.
The Taliban has been forcibly taking away young girls to be sex slaves for their fighters.
