From Shiv Sena to Mughal Sena? Netizens slam Aaditya Thackeray’s green poster; accuse Sena of betraying Hindutva

In what could be regarded as a betrayal of ideology to satisfy its greed for power, Shiv Sena has been abandoning the Hindutva legacy of its founder Bal Thackeray ever since making an alliance with Congress and NCP  to form the Maharashtra government. The Sena is now copy-pasting the Muslim appeasement strategy of Congress to stay relevant in the state where the government is facing serious corruption charges. Now, the image of a poster of Shivsena leader Aaditya Thackeray is making rounds on Social media indicating Sena’s official entry into appeasement politics.

BJP’s national media panellist Charu Pragya had tweeted the image of the poster with the caption “From Saffron to Green. From Marathi to Urdu. From Shiv Sena to ……………..?”

On a poster placed near a bar in Worli (Mumbai), Aaditya Thackeray is shown in green background and Urdu written over it. This is the same Shiv Sena that once took pride in the saffron flag and the legacy of Shivaji Maharaj who fought the Mughals for liberating Swarajya from the Islamic invaders. Now, for Shiv Sena green seems to be more attractive than Saffron and Urdu yield more benefit than Marathi.

Netizens criticised Shiv Sena and Aaditya Thackeray for taking such a U-turn on ideology. One twitter user Gaurav Arora tweeted, “The leaders of this party converted coz they wanted power. That's still understandable. But wht did the cadre get? They nurtured an ideology for decades & suddenly this dramatic turnaround. What has happened to the Sena cadre? Are we Hindus so dumb? This is beyond insane.”
