ADGP L R Bishnoi revealed that police have done the postmortem of the deceased girls on 12 specific points, proving that both were raped and murdered.

Guwahati: On June 11, two minor tribal girls from Abhayakhuti village under the Kokrajhar police station of Assam went missing. The minor girls aged 14 and 16 went to a local market and never came back home. A local villager found their body hanging in the same tree nearby their village. Initially, villagers thought the minor girls from the same family committed suicide. But the police investigation confirms that it was not suicide, rather planned murder.

The double murder of minor tribal girls from the same family jolts the state. Assam chief minister visited the poor family in Abhayakhuti village in Kokrajhar district on June 13. He ordered the police to form a special investigation team (SIT) and expedite the investigation. Acting promptly, police formed an SIT headed by additional SP Surjit Singh Panesar and the team immediately arrested 7 Muslim men from the nearby village. Police confirmed that it was a clear case of rape and murder.

Speaking to ‘Organiser’, additional SP Panesar said that three accused, namely Forizul Rahman (22), Nasibul Ali Seikh (19) and Muzammel Seikh (20), confessed that they have abducted the girls and raped them. On fear of being exposed, they killed the minor tribal girls and hanged them in a tree to make it a suicide case. Kokrajhar police on Tuesday (September 7) submitted an 858 pages charge sheet in court accusing the three men of rape and murder of the two minor tribal girls.

ADGP L R Bishnoi revealed that police have done the postmortem of the deceased girls on 12 specific points, proving that both were raped and murdered. Police collected almost 55 samples from the girls and accused persons and did the tests in forensic laboratories. It was found that the three main accused, Forizul, Nasibul and Muzammel raped and killed the minor girls. Investigating police officers said that being from the nearby village, the culprits were known to the deceased girls. On June 11, when the girls were returning from the local market, the accused persons asked the girls to come aside for some discussions. Not knowing the barbaric plan of the accused, the minor girls followed them.

Taking advantage of some deserted place, the accused gang-raped the minors. But in fear of being exposed, the criminals killed the girls and hanged them in a tree. Police recreated the scene in the presence of a magistrate as a part of the investigation. The Kokrajhar police appealed in court to hear the sensitive case on a day-to-day basis. On June 17, one of the accused, Forizul Rahman, tried to escape from police custody while he was taken for a search operation to find out his mobile phone. Police fired on him to prevent the escape, and the accused sustained a single bullet injury. However, the poor family of the deceased minor girls expressed satisfaction that police has filed the charge-sheet within three months of the murder. The family demands exemplary punishment for the rapist and murderers.
