Nine outstanding teachers from North East to be awarded by President today

Guwahati: 9 teachers from the North East will receive the prestigious National teachers award from President Ram Nath Kovind today on the occasion of Teacher's day for their outstanding work in the field of education.

The teachers were selected for the prestigious award– two each from Sikkim and Assam; one each from Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. They are among the 44 other teachers from across the country selected for the national award.

Teacher Kankan Kishore Dutta teaches in a rural school in Teok in Jorhat district of Assam. During the pandemic period Dutta made it sure that every student of his school Bamunpukhuri high school got the proper education even if the school was not open.

Binanda Swargiary, another teacher from Assam is working as a teacher at the Higher Secondary School located in Baksa. Swargiary inspires hundreds of Bodo and Adivasi students to continue education in spite of all odds.

Duda Sora works as a head teacher at the Government Upper Primary School in West Siang, Arunachal Pradesh. Despite the rough terrain and weather, Sora continues to educate the tribal students of the area.

Swadesuno Zao is the head teacher at the GMS Dakhma School located in Kohima, Nagaland. This wonderful teacher devoted her life to create a student friendly environment.

Ningmero Simrai is working as a teacher at the Ukhrul Higher Secondary School located in Ukhrul, Manipur is also selected for the prestigious president teacher's award for exemplary service in the education field.

Premdas Chhetri, who hails from the Nia Broom area of Sikkim, is currently working as a physics teacher at the Tashi Namgyal Higher Secondary School in the state's capital city of Gangtok. Chhetri's contribution to the field of science education and innovation in Sikkim is immensely recognised by all.

Mingma Sherpa is working as head teacher at the Loom Primary School located in Lower Jangu, North Sikkim. Despite the fact that the school is located in a far flung area, Sherpa continues to spread education amongst the rural students.

Jacinta Vanlalengzami is working as head teacher at the A&M Grandchild School located in the Serchhip area of Mizoram and her school has excelled in education under her guidance and leadership. 

Sibsankar Pal is working as the head teacher at Pandabapir High School located in West Tripura. This brilliant leader and teacher made sure that his student gets the right environment for study and the school always excels in result.
