A complaint has been filed against Ali Sabrin, deputy director of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kerala for using the official platform of NYKS for glorifying Islamist Variyakunnath Kunjahammed Haji who lead the anti-Hindu massacre in Malabar in 1921. The complaint accuses him of sharing some youtube links and messages in the official WhatsApp group meant for Nehru Yuva Kendra volunteers of 2021-23, in the Thiruvananthapuram district.  Recently ICHR has decided to remove the names of Moplah martyrs from the Dictionary of Martyrs of India’s Freedom Struggle including this Variyakunnath Kunjahammed Haji. ICHR had clarified that the Moplah riot has no connection with India's freedom struggle.

Ali Sabrin is accused of misusing his official position by propagating his personal agenda and views for glorifying a religious fanatic, hurting the patriotic sentiments of many and using the official platform of NYKS, which is meant for the official communications with NYK volunteers.

Some of the volunteers questioned Ali Sabrin, they were threatened and later he turned the watsapp group conversation settings to "Admin only" so that the volunteers do not protest against and thereby establishing his sovereignty.

The complaint has been sent to the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Singh Thakur.
