Guwahati: The rail passengers and tourists will have the luxury to travel in the state of the art vista dome coaches of North East Frontier Railway. The NFR is all set to run trains with Vistadome coaches from August 28 between Guwahati and New Haflong railway station.

Passengers can enjoy the picturesque beauty of the green hills of Assam in the 270 kilometres journey from Guwahati to Halflong town, sitting on the luxury chairs of vistadome coaches. The train will stop once in the beautiful Maibong station in the up and downward journey.

Initially, it will be a twice a week service – every Saturday and Wednesday. However, the frequency can be increased based on the overall response of passengers availing of the service.

Anshul Gupta, General Manager of North East Frontier Railway said that the main intention is to run these coaches with special services in the hill section of Haflong, Assam.

"The latest inclusion of the NFR would enhance local tourism and also attract tourists from outside. This will allow tourists to enjoy the beauty and serenity of Assam and will boost the tourism sector," he said.

Speaking about the unique facilities available in the vistadome coaches, Gupta said that the 360-degree viewing system of the special Vistadome coaches will allow passengers to have a great view of the surroundings. It will also have observation lounges for sightseeing," he said, adding that the rotational seats of the coaches are designed to add extra comfort to passengers."

Wi-Fi service will also be available for all the coaches on the train. The coaches will have automatic sliding doors, a passenger entertainment system with digital display screens, and bio-toilets. The one-way fare for a passenger will be around rupees 1130 and the chair car fare will be rupees 470, as per the NFR sources.
