After the COVID-19 pandemic, all educational institutions had to shift their classes to online mode and it is more than a year since the schools and colleges are closed. There are multiple reports out in the public domain about students especially children facing a lot of problems due to the absence of physical calls. Now a series of incidents regarding unruly elements trying to create ruckus during online classes and illegally using the students’ mobile numbers to add them to various WhatsApp groups are being reported from Kerala.

Earlier, there were multiple complaints about anti-social elements intruding into online classes and disturbing them. Now, it is the Jihadi WhatsApp groups that are illegally occupying the mobile numbers of students and adding to those groups without their permission.

After adding students to these WhatsApp groups, pornographic content, speeches in Arabic and Urdu are also shared. Even if the students exit the groups, they are repeatedly added back. Shockingly, these WhatsApp groups are controlled by Pakistan based phone numbers.

Parents are demanding the Kerala government to take strict action against those culprits who are involved and also security agencies to probe into the Jihadi angle to these WhatsApp groups.
