India clocks defence exports of Rs 38,500 crore in last 7 years

Over the years various reforms have been taken to enhance Defence exports. These reforms have ramped the defence exports to new heights.
As per the details provided by the government in the Lok Sabha recently, India exported military hardware and systems worth Rs 38,500 crore in the last seven years. Further, the value of defence exports clocked Rs 9,115.55 crore in 2019-20 and Rs 8434.84 crore in 2020-21.
The details were shared by the Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt while replying to a question in the lower house of the Parliament. The minister informed, “ The major arsenal exported during 2014-15 and 2020-21 included armoured protection vehicles, light-weight torpedo, weapons locating radar,fire control systems and tear gas launchers.”
Presently, India is exporting defence equipment to more than 75 countries around the globe. According to the details provided by Ajay Bhatt, India’s defence exports in 2014-15 was Rs 1,940.64 crore and gradually climbed to Rs 2,059.18 crore in 2015-16. In 2016-17, exports of Rs 1,521.91 crore were recorded while it raised up to Rs 4,682.36 crore in 2017-18. In 2018-2019, the defence exports soared to Rs 10,7465.77 crore.
The value of defence exports in 2019-2020 was registered at Rs 9,115.55 crore and Rs 8,434.84 crore in 2020-21, as per the details.
In the last seven years, the aggregate defence exports stood at Rs 38,500.25 crore.
