The Supreme Court is hearing petitions demanding a special investigation into the Pegasus spyware row.
The Hindu’s N. Ram made a false submission to the Supreme Court in a petition seeking a special investigation into the Pegasus spyware row.
N. Ram has submitted to the Supreme court that the California Court has observed that some Indian journalists and other persons were targets. But, it was not true.
Nalini Sharma, India Today’s court correspondent, posted on the microblogging platform Twitter “CJI: The petition by N. Ram says that the California Court has observed that some Indian journalists and other persons were also targets.
Where in the Court order does it say that? We didn’t see it.
Sibal: It’s not there. You’re right.
CJI: Then this statement is incorrect.”
The bench led by CJI NV Ramana did not issue any notice to the Union government. It asked the petitioners to provide copies of the petition to the Union government.
“We will see who to issue notice to,” Sharma posted, quoting the CJI.
The matter has been adjourned for Tuesday (August 10).
Multiple petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court requesting the court to order a special investigation into the Pegasus spyware row.
