The new infections traced to Nanjing Lukou International Airport have spread to at least ten cities, said Chinese authorities, and all flights in Nanjing have been cancelled till August 11.

A new coronavirus outbreak has been discovered in the Chinese city of Nanjing.

After the rapid spread of the virus in the city, it has spread to five other Chinese provinces. Officials closed the Nanjing airport and issued alerts.

As a precautionary measure, Nanjing, a city of 1 crore to the northwest of Shanghai, has ordered tens of thousands to stay home, and the authorities are carrying out mass testing. The virologists are looking for the source of the virus.

Shao Yiming of the Chinese Center of Disease Control said at a news conference, “We should take special measures on high-risk groups, such as those at entry ports, when it comes to tests, discovery, tracing and vaccination.”

Also, the Chinese authorities are trying to contain an outbreak in Yunnan province on China's southwestern border with Myanmar. The Yunnan health agency said many of those infected had been to Myanmar recently.
