Lovlina won the first round and played aggressively to win the match 4-1. With this win, the boxer has secured a medal for team India in the welterweight category.

Chen Nien-chin had faced Lovlina Borgohain thrice before and won on all three occasions. Chen Nien-chin is currently ranked third while Lovlina is fifth.

Lovlina has two World Championship bronze medals to her name. The first came at the 2018 World Championships in New Delhi. On 4th August, Lovlina will play her semi-final against Busenaz Surmeneli from Turkey.
