Home Minister Shah said BJP always wants to protect the unique cultures, languages, identity and food habits of the Northeastern people and mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi always prioritises the North East.

Guwahati: "Assam has left behind the path of Agitation, Insurgency and Gun and this is the reason why people of Assam have voted BJP to power for the second consecutive term," Union Home Minister Amit Shah said this in Guwahati on Sunday.

Speaking in a government program in Shankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati Shah said people of Assam have chosen development over propaganda in the assembly election. "Assam has walked in the path of growth and development during BJP's first tenure, and it will continue under the leadership of chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma," said Shah.

Home Minister Shah also said BJP always wants to protect the unique cultures, languages, identity and food habits of the Northeastern people. He mentions that Prime Minister Narendra Modi always gives special priority to the North East. That is why the PM has visited the Northeast 35 times during his six and a half years tenure. He also said that for the first time after independence, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Northeast has got five union ministers. This reflects the amount of priority the BJP government is giving to the Northeast.

Laying the foundation stone of 430 bedded Tamulpur Medical College virtually, the Home Minister said the central government is committed to fulfilling the historic Bodo accord clauses before 2024. He also mentioned that talks with various rebel groups of the Northeast are in the right direction and will reach a logical conclusion on time.

Shah said the insurgency would end in the Northeast by 2024. "If there is political will, development is possible. BJP has proved that," the Home Minister stated. For the last four and a half years, BJP has been running the government in Manipur. There is no Band & and blockade like before in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has proven that there is no need to agitate for development. It was set in the mind of the people. But BJP is committed towards all-around development of the Northeast region, Shah concluded. It should be mentioned that the Union Home Minister inaugurated a radiotherapy block in Guwahati Medical College Hospital for the cancer patients of the state. He also distributed financial aid of 1 lakh to the kin of the deceased in COVID-19 under the state government Parthana scheme. After arriving from Shillong, Amit Shah visited Maa Kamakhya temple in the evening and sought her blessings.
