On Republic Day this year, protesting farmers had caused massive riots in Delhi, destroying many cars and private properties. They warn of similar action this time.

Reiterating their warning that they would not allow Haryana ministers to unfurl tricolour on Independence Day, the protesting farmers said consequences might be more severe if they ignored the warning.

The protesting farmers had used similar words before taking out the tractor rally on Republic Day this year and indulging in massive riots in the national capital.

The farmers will also take out a tractor rally in Haryana on August 15.

“We will take out a tractor rally on August 15 and won’t allow the Haryana ministers to celebrate Independence Day. We won’t allow them to unfurl the tricolour,” said Gurpreet Chhina.

Two hundred farmers are daily going to protest at Jantar-Mantar. The Delhi Police has allowed the entry of only 200 farmers.

Farmers had demanded permission for a tractor rally to Delhi when the parliament was in session. The Delhi Police denied the permission.

The farmers had similarly demanded permission for a tractor rally on January 26 this year. But not only they deviated from the designated route but also indulged in massive rioting. One protesting farmer had died when the tractor he was driving overturned.

The police in Delhi-NCR have been on alert with protesting farmers threatening to throw normal life out of gear.
