The Yogi Adityanath Government of Uttar Pradesh plans to develop the area as a religious tourist destination. The temple dates back to the 8th century.

The authorities in Uttar Pradesh have recently taken cognizance of an ancient Sun temple in the Pratapgarh district of the state. The plan is now to develop it into a religious tourist destination.

A joint team of the state tourism department and Uttar Pradesh Project Corporation Limited has been working on the plan.

An initiative of the villagers, Bhayharan Nath Dham Kshetriya Vikas Sansthan, informed the authorities about the existence of the ruins of the temple and started the initiative of conserving the remains.

A team of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had visited the ruins of the Sun temple in 2011 and directed the gram panchayat of Gaura to follow the rules under the Antiquities and Art Act, 1972.

Now, after a decade, Uttar Pradesh Project Corporation Limited and the tourism department have taken the initiative to revive the site.

The Statesman quoted Samaj Shekhar, secretary of the Sansthan, “Majority of the people do not even have the knowledge of the existence of the Sun temple in this remote village of Pratapgarh district. Our Sansthan came forward to apprise people about the ruins of the historical edifice and sought their assistance to develop and maintain the area in and around the temple.”
