The Population Policy 2021-30, prepared by the Health Department, is based on the findings of the National Family Health Survey-4.

The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh will release the new Population Policy 2021-30 on July 11, the World Population Day.

The Health Department has prepared the policy based on the findings of the National Family Health Survey-4.

It is likely to focus on incentives to check the growing population.

The Indian Express quoted Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath “Poverty and illiteracy are major factors for population explosion. There is also a lack of awareness about the population in certain communities. Therefore, there is a need for community-centric awareness efforts.”

The period of the earlier Population Policy 2000-16 has ended.

The new Population Policy will have two phases, targeting 2026 and 2030.

Recently, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced that those having over two children would be deprived of many government benefits.

It will also focus on providing advanced health care facilities to the masses and using digital platforms to bridge the gap in the delivery of services.
