Farmers forced to shut the toll plazas of Haryana and Punjab as a part of their protest against the Central Government.

Toll plazas are closed for about eight months because of the ongoing protests. Nearly all the toll plazas are on the national highways.

Most toll plazas in Punjab and Haryana have been closed for the past eight months because of the ongoing demonstrations, resulting in a loss of over 2000 crore rupees.

The farmers and middlemen have blocked the plazas and forcefully closed the operations for eight months.

Since November of last year, farmers and intermediaries have been opposing the three progressive farm policies of the Union government.

The Union government had multiple rounds of talks with the protesters, but it did not yield any result.

The administration has repeatedly asked the farmers to stop protesting and has also invited the demonstrators to meet with them for a dialogue. But, it has also clarified that it will not repeal the three progressive laws.

The protesters have warned the government about their planned march to parliament on July 19, when the house monsoon session begins.

The ongoing protest has affected about 50 toll plazas in Punjab and Haryana. CNN News 18 reported the loss of revenue from the disruption of activities at toll plazas.

On January 26 this year, protesters had carried out a tractor march to Delhi and caused massive rioting. Nishan Sahib, a religious flag of Sikhs, was unfurled in the Red Fort.

It has been reported multiple times how Khalistani and anti-India elements have hijacked the protests and used them to propagate their vested interests.
