5 PFI-SDPI workers dead in a vehicle accident in Kerala, Police investigating gold-smuggling angle

A vehicle accident in Calicut has opened a Pandora’s Box when it comes to Kerala’s dubious history of gold smuggling. Now, reports suggest that the five SDPI-PFI workers who are dead in the accident were part of gold-smuggling and black-money rackets. Among the dead, Tahir Shah, Ussainar and Nassar criminal cases against them.

 

Some of the people living in nearby areas have told the police that they heard fire-shots from the venue of the accident.

 

In yet another incident, gold worth Rs 1.11 crore was found from a passenger named Mohammad Shafique in Calicut airport. The reports suggest that that the dead 5 were accompanying Goonda leader Faisal to purchase the smuggled gold from Mohammad Shafique.

 

The investigation is still going on.
