Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma visits Shaktipeeth Malini Than

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Shaktipeeth Malini Than at Likabali in Assam-Arunachal border on Sunday and offered prayers seeking divine blessings for the health and well-being of all sections of the people in the State.

 

Sarma also took a look at the ruins of the archaeological site belongs to the early medieval period which was built by Chutiya kings in 13th- 14th century and presently preserved at the temple campus. Malini Than archaeological site management committee expressed its gratitude to Sarma for the visit and felicitated him. 

 

Union minister Rameswar Teli, State ministers Dr Ranuj Pegu & Sanjay Kishan, Parliamentarians Pradan Baruah and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, legislators Bhuban Pegu & Taranga Gogoi accompanied Sarma in the program.

 

Earlier, Sarma inaugurated a gas compressor and an orchid conservation centre on the campus of Duliajan-Numaligarh pipeline limited at Duliajan in Dibrugarh district. He also planted a Rudraksha sapling at the premises.

 

In addition, Sarma visited Assam Gas Company Ltd in the same town and reviewed its activities and upcoming projects. He revealed that AGCL, which is the county’s first dedicated natural gas transmission and distribution company, established in 1962, has been constantly making a profit during the last 12 years.

 

Commenting that the gas will play a vital role in realizing the State government’s goal of speedy economic progress, he asked the company management to aggressively expand the piped gas network in the tea garden areas of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts.

 

He took time to visit Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited at Lepetkata in Dibrugarh locality too. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016, the BCPL was conceived in 1985 as part of the historic Assam Accord.

Interacting with the staff to get a first-hand understanding of polymer production, Sarma also held a meeting with the BCPL management and reviewed the ongoing activities. He stressed on expanding market of the polymer produced at BCPL and the need to develop strategies for generating a conducive environment for setting up more downstream polymer industries.
