Sending the clear signal to the world that it’s in no mood to give in, China nominated the Wuhan Institute of Virology and its leadership for the top science award for identifying Coronavirus.

Wuhan lab is at the centre of the lab leak theory which believes the virus leaked from the lab in Wuhan. The global leaders are mounting pressure on China to cooperate in a transparent investigation about the origin of the virus.

China has denied that the virus leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology but has stonewalled any attempt for investigation.

In January this year, a team of WHO visited China to investigate the origin of the virus but Chinese authorities did not allow it access to the lab and primary sources.

With more and more evidence suggesting a possible leak from the Wuhan lab, pressure is mounting on China to join the probe.

US President Joe Biden asked his intelligence community to investigate the origin of the virus and present the findings to him.

Recently, G-7 also asked China to cooperate with the WHO led effort to investigate the origin of the virus.
