He was absconding since police booked him on June 16 under various sections of the IPC, for spreading fake news to cause a communal disturbance.

The Uttar Pradesh police arrested one of the masterminds of the fake news in the Ghaziabad thrashing case Umed Pehlwan Idrisi on June 19 from Delhi.

Police booked him on June 16 under various sections of the IPC for spreading the fake news to cause a communal disturbance.

Idrisi did a Facebook live with the victim, Abdul Samad Saifi, where he claimed Saifi was thrashed for not chanting Jai Shri Ram.

Propaganda website Alt News co-founder Muhammed Zubair had shared a muted video of the thrashing incident with the claim that he was thrashed for not chanting Jai Shri Ram.

Ghaziabad police later discovered that the fight was over a personal matter and arrested Parvesh, Arif, Aadil, and Mushahid.

The incident had happened on June 5 in Ghaziabad.

The original police complaint had no reference to Jai Shri Ram. Only after the troublemakers jumped in, the incident got the Jai Shri Ram twist.

The UP Police had registered FIR against many people along with the microblogging platform Twitter for spreading fake news.
