The Delhi Police has received a complaint against actress Swara Bhaskar, The Wire journalist Arfa Khanum Sherwani, Twitter Indian Head Manish Maheshwari, and one Asif Khan for spreading fake news in Ghaziabad thrashing case.

Bhaskar said on the night of June 15 that she had watched the video where people could be heard heckling Abdul Samad Saifi to chant Jai Shri Ram.

She wrote on microblogging platform Twitter, “RW & Sanghis vomiting on my timeline ‘coz Ghaziabad police named 3 Muslims. Jackasses the prime accused is literally a Pravesh Gujjar. The man is on camera, forcing the old man to chant #JaiShriRam

Yes it is a desecration of my God and my religion and I’m ashamed.. as shud you be.”

Surprisingly, there is no such video.

ANI tweeted, “Delhi Police say they've received a complaint against actor Swara Bhaskar, Twitter India MD Manish Maheshwari & others at Police Station Tilak Marg, in connection with an incident in Loni (Ghaziabad) where a man was thrashed & his beard was chopped off. "It is under inquiry," they say.”

The video of thrashing was muted and spread with a twist that Saifi was thrashed for not chanting Jai Shri Ram.

Saifi was thrashed on June 5 in Ghaziabad by Parvesh, Arif, Aadil, Mushahid and others.

The original police complaint also does not have any mention of Jai Shri Ram.

Propaganda website Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair helped in making the muted video go viral.

A separate FIR has been registered against Zubair.
