Assam rape-murder accused Forizul Rahman shot while trying to escape, hospitalized with serious injuries

Guwahati: A rape & murder accused in Assam was shot at by the cops on duty as he tried to flee from the police custody. Assam police additional director general GP Singh informed that one of the accused individuals (in Kokrajhar double rape and murder) tried to escape during a search operation near Bedlangmari of Salbari and the police personnel had to fire to prevent him from escaping.
Seriously injured Forizul Rahman, who is one of seven arrested individuals in connection with the brutal rape and murder of two girls (aged 14 and 16) belonged to the indigenous Rabha community and were found hanging from a tree at Abhayakhuti village in Kokrajhar district on Friday, has been admitted at Fakruddin Ali Ahmed medical college hospital in Barpeta.
State chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, also in charge of the home portfolio stated that both the Rabha girls were raped and then murdered. Quoting LR Bishnoi, the top police officer under whose leadership a special investigative team was constituted, Sarma twisted the care was already solved. He earlier visited the residence of victims on Sunday.
As soon as the incident of hanging by two girls (in a relationship of aunt and niece) in a mysterious situation came to light and sensations prevailed, Sarma ordered the expeditious investigation into the matter. Interacting with their family members, in presence of BTC chief Pramod Boro with others, Sarma conveyed his deep sympathy to them and reiterated that women’s safety remains a top priority for the government.
