A video went viral on social media in which one Abdul Samad Saifi is being thrashed by some people in Ghaziabad.
On investigation, the Uttar Pradesh police found that Parvesh Gurjar, Arif, Adil, Mushahid, and some other people thrashed Saifi.
Saifi later alleged that he was forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Two videos went viral on social media. A muted video of the thrashing incident and another in which Saifi could be heard saying he was forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
Upon investigation, police found that in the original video of the thrashing, in which voices could be heard, there was no mention of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ anywhere in the video.
The propagandists, including Alt News founders Pratik Sinha and Mohammed Zubair, spread the muted video of the incident.
After the thrashing incident, Samajwadi Party leader from Ghaziabad, Umed Pahlwan, jumped into the picture.
The second video, where Saifi could be heard saying he was forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’, was shot in the presence of a Maulana in the house of Umed Pahlwan.
The police believe the ‘Jai Shri Ram’ angle was brought in to polarise the society.
Saifi, who lives in Bulandshahr, is involved in occult practice and sales tabiz.
He had sold one tabiz to Parvesh promising it would do miracles in his life.
When it didn’t happen, he angrily called Saifi to his place in Ghaziabad. Parvesh’s friends Arif, Aadil, and Mushahid joined in. The fight was over this personal issue.
