Rahul Gandhi aide and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh said revoking Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, which provided special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, was a sad decision and the Congress party would certainly relook at the decision.

Singh was in a virtual meeting with a Pakistani journalist Friday night.

Article 370 of the Indian Constitution was revoked by the Narendra Modi government on August 5, 2019.

Singh said, “The decision of revoking Article 370 and reducing the statehood of J & K is extremely sad decision and the Congress party would certainly have to have a relook of the decision.”

He also added Democracy was not there in Kashmir when Article 370 was revoked.

Quoting a clip of the virtual meeting, Amit Malviya, national head of the BJP’s IT cell, tweeted, “In a Club House chat, Rahul Gandhi’s top aide Digvijaya Singh tells a Pakistani journalist that if Congress comes to power they will reconsider the decision of abrogating Article 370…

Really? यही तो पाकिस्तान चाहता है…”

In the same meeting, Singh also said ‘Kashmiriyat’ was the ‘fundamentals of secularism’.

Aditya Raj Kaul, a senior journalist, tweeted, “Digvijaya Singh claims ‘Kashmiriyat’ is the ‘fundamentals of secularism’. Where was this Kashmiriyat when ethnic cleansing of Pandits took place in 1990 by Islamists? Where is this Kashmiriyat when innocent KPs – Ajay Pandita and Rakesh Pandita are butchered in South Kashmir?”
