An illegal mosque on an encroached land in Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh was demolished by the administration.
The mosque in the Bani Kada village in Ramsanehi Ghat tehsil in Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh was built on an encroached land.
The mosque and its residential complex was adjoining the tehsil complex.
The mosque was locally known as Gareeb Nawaz Masjid.
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board and the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board condemned the demolition.
Barabanki District Magistrate Adarsh Singh said the mosque and its residential complex was illegal.
The District Magistrate, Barabanki, said “A notice was served on people concerned on March 15, giving them an opportunity to present their views over the ownership of the mosque and complex but the people residing there fled after receiving the notice.”
The DM further added the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court dismissed a petition filed in this regard.
Later on the orders of the court of the SDM of Ramsnehi Ghat, the demolition was carried out.
In March this year, the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh had ordered to remove all the illegal religious constructions in the state.
