The Delhi Police Sunday arrested Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Jan Mohammed Dar, who was in the city to kill Dasna Devi temple head priest Swami Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, from a hotel in Paharganj.
Saffron clothes, tilak and gun have been recovered from Jan’s possession.
Jan, who is a resident of Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir, left for Delhi on April 23.
On reaching Delhi, he met another Jaish operative Umar who arranged for his stay in Delhi and also provided saffron clothes and tilak to facilitate Jan’s entry in the Dasna Devi temple.
The Dasna Devi temple is about 50 kms from Delhi.
After Swami Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati had criticised Islam in April this year, there were fatwas issued against him.
The Aam Aadmi Party MLA in Delhi, Amanatullah Khan, had asked for Swami’s beheading.
Mosques were used to spread hatred against Swami Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati. There were protests in many parts demanding the beheading of Swami ji.
Jan’s handler, Abid, was operating from Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir. Abid had provided Jan pistol and live cartridges.
