Israel doesn’t need to ask anyone for its Right to Exist, Israel’s Consul General in India Yaakov Finkelstein said Friday.
He also added Israel was under attack from Hamas and was protecting its citizens and helping them live a normal life.
Gaza based terrorist organisation Hamas has launched more than 2000 rockets since Monday. Ten civilians have lost their lives.
Finkelstein accused Hamas of committing double war crimes. He said, “Hamas is committing double war crimes. They are launching rockets in Israel’s civilian territory and are also using Palestinians as a human shield.”
Israel is taking actions against Hamas under its right to self-defence.
The Consul General said Israel believes in the peaceful coexistence of communities but Hamas is making efforts to disturb peace in the region.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden had said Israel has the right to self-defence when 1000s of rockets are falling in its territory.
Former US President Donald Trump has asked President Biden and his administration to stand solidly with Israel.
Fiskelstein said Israel has received bipartisan support from the US and all the American presidents have supported Israel’s right to self-defence.
Finkelstein also added that some 20% of the rockets fired by Hamas are falling in Gaza itself killing innocent Palestinians.
Also, Hamas is recklessly firing in Israel’s civilian areas. On the contrary, Israel is only targeting Hamas.
Cpt Libby Weiss, IDF Spokesperson, said that civilian life had been disrupted because of rocket attacks by Hamas and the effort was being made to bring normalcy soon.
She added Israel’s famed Iron Dome Defence System is neutralising most of the rockets fired by Hamas.
Narrating how tough life is, she said civilians have 15 to 90 seconds to run into bomb shelters once the siren sounds.
