Malayalam News channel Asianet News’s Thiruvananthapuram senior reporter P.R Praveena has revealed that the news channel was not showing news related to the Bengal violence, since BJP workers were attacked by the TMC goons. She also said that the BJP workers were not Indians and were Pakistanis. A viewer of the Asianet news had called the channel’s office to enquire about the reason behind turning blind eye to the Bengal violence.

Apparently, BJP Rajyasabha MP and the party’s national spokesperson Rajeev Chandrasekhar is the Chairman of Jupiter Entertainment Ventures which holds the highest stake in Asianet News.

This action of P R Praveena has led to widespread condemnation in social media. Netizens have raised serious concern about the editorial policy of Asianet News.

Earlier, Asianet News was accused of fuelling the Delhi riots which happened in 2020 during the anti-CAA protests. Following the complaints received about peddling fake news and triggering violence, Asianet News was banned by the Central government and the channel management had to submit an unconditional apology to resume their telecast.
