After the voting of the last phase got over in Assam on April 6, both the Congress and the AIUDF shifted some of their candidates to Rajasthan to avoid horse trading.
Congress shifted 20 of their MLA candidates and AIUDF moved 17 of its candidates to Rajasthan, a state ruled by the Congress party.
THe AIUDF candidates expressed fears for their lives citing the worsening Covid-19 situation in the state.
The plan was to stay in Rajasthan till the counting of votes on May 2.
Last weekend they expressed their fears to the party president Badaruddin Ajmal.
Ajmal also feared that if they contract Covid, the candidates return to Assam would be difficult on May 2.
So, the party decided to move them back to Assam.
Starting Thursday, Section 144 has been imposed in Rajasthan for a period of one month. The state is already under lockdown for the past two weeks.
The Congress party contested the Assam assembly polls in alliance with AIUDF. The polling for the 126 seat assembly was spread over three phases, concluding on April 6.
