The security forces neutralised all the seven terrorists engaged in two different encounters Friday.
The operations were undertaken in Sophian and Tral. Five terrorists were neutralised in Sophian and two in Tral.
The complete operation took about 12 hours..
All the neutralised terrorists are from Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, an Al Qaeda affiliate in Kashmir. The dead also include AGuH chief Imtiyaz Shah.
After engaging with the security forces in Sophian, the terrorists ran inside a mosque.
The security forces persuaded them to surrender but without any success.
It was a joint operation by the Indian Army, J & K Police and CRPF. The security forces recovered seven AK47, five pistols and grenades.
Four security personnel were injured in the operation.
In a similar operation in 2019, the entire brass of Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind was wiped out from Kashmir.
But, with help from across the border, there were new recruits. With summer approaching, security forces are anticipating more infiltration attempts.
