The Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center has selected WUS – an IIT Kanpur startup- for the Milestone Makers cohorts 2021, focusing on supporting startup founders working on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s)- Reducing inequalities. WUS was incorporated on PM Modi’s call for “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat App challenge”. WUS aims to improve the lives of 500 million workers in India and 3.3 billion workers globally by building a Unified-digital community for workers and unions. Considering the social impact WUS is creating, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTy, GOI) under the prestigious TIDE 2.0 (Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs) program extended support for WUS.

Mr Prasoon Sharma is the founder. Prasoon was selected for the prestigious Pentland-Churchill Scholarship 2018-19 (worth $67000) – endorsed by EX-US PRESIDENT CLINTON- for Global policy leadership at NYU and UCL. Every year, one candidate globally is selected as the Pentland-Churchill Scholar. Furthermore, his school friend Ashwani Singh is taking care of the technology aspect of the startup. Ashwani Singh has 16 years of experience. He has worked in Intel, Qualcomm, Infosys, and Cofounded system-on-chip (SOC) based startup that provided solutions to Intel, Texas instruments.

COVID-19 has deepened existing inequalities, hitting the poorest and most vulnerable communities the hardest. It has spotlighted economic inequalities and fragile social safety nets that leave vulnerable communities to bear the crisis’s brunt. For better resource management, India’s government is building a national worker database to provide resources and help to workers, especially blue and grey collar. At the same time, social, political and economic disparities have amplified the impacts of the pandemic. On the economic front, the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly increased global unemployment and dramatically slashed workers’ incomes. In alignment with the Indian government, WUS is building a digital worker community where workers can share their knowledge and grievances within their community to help each other.

Considering the social-good WUS is creating, WUS Founder -Prasoon Sharma- was invited to speak at the 37th Churchill conference. In this event, George W. Bush, Former US President And Sir John Major, Former British prime minister, were the keynote speakers. Through the Milestone maker program and mentors, WUS can approach International organization like the International Labour Organization (ILO) to bring global resources and support for the Indian blue and grey collar workers. WUS – a product of PD software Pvt. Ltd- is a Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) recognized startup.
