A special MP-MLA court Friday acquitted the former Union Minister Swami Chinmayanad in a rape case lodged against him in August 2019.
The girl, who was a Law student in a college run by Swami’s trust, had posted a video message about the alleged harassment on social media platforms.
She, along with her male friends, had disappeared after posting the video.
Swami had also filed a police complaint against them alleging demands of INR 5 crore.
The Supreme Court had ordered an SIT inquiry into the matter. There was no evidence to support any charge against the former minister.
