A Muslim mob on Saturday night attacked a Dalit colony in Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan after it came to light that a Dalit man had married his Muslim girlfriend.
After the attack, the victim’s family ran away to their relatives’ place in Ghaziabad.
A mob of more than 50 Muslims, armed with rods, sticks and swords suddenly attacked the locality late on Saturday night.
They caused damage to the vehicles parked outside and they also damaged other properties.
The rioters were running free for about an hour before the police arrived. The paramilitary force is deployed in the area to control the situation.
It came to light that a Dalit man was in a relationship with a Muslim woman from the neighbourhood.
Both wanted to get married but the girl’s family did not like it on the ground that the man belonged to another religion.
Also, they decided to get married secretly. The girl even registered a statement in the police station.
