In a huge setback to evangelist K.P Yohannan, the self-proclaimed Bishop of Believer’s church, Cheruvally estate owned by him now stands attached by the Income Tax department. Earlier, the I-T raids in Believers church establishments had unearthed a Rs 6,000 crore black-money scam. Now, the IT department has attached 2000 acres of land which Believers church took over from Harrisons Malayalam by forging documents.
Kerala government had planned to construct an airport in this estate adjacent to Sabarimala temple. From day one of the announcements of this project, there were accusations regarding vested interest.
K.P Yohannan, who is currently residing in Texas (U.S) was served a notice, to which he responded that he could come back to India only in December. I-T department is planning to go ahead with harsh measures if Yohannan does not cooperate with their investigation.
