The Delhi Police arrested two contract killers who were out to kill prominent Kashmiri Hindu Activist Sushil Pandit, from R K Puram in Delhi.

Pandit has been very vocal about the rights of Kashmiri Pandits who were made to flee their homes in the 1990s by Islamists.

Two arrested contract killers, Sukhvinder Singh, 25 and Lakhan Singh, 21, are from Farid kot in Punjab and were promised INR 10 lakh each for killing Pandit.

In the initial investigation, police found the contract killers were in touch with handlers from Pakistan and Dubai. Suspecting the role of the ISI, the intelligence agency of Pakistan, the case has been transferred to the Special Cell of Delhi police for further investigation.

The Government of India abrogated Article 370 and 35 A of the Constitution in August 2019. And, the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir was reorganised into two union territories of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.

Pandit regularly appears on TV advocating the rights of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits and asking the government to take measures to ensure the resettlement of the community.
