Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing a Vijay Sankalp rally in Villupuram accused DMK and Congress of following Dynasty politics and slammed the ‘son’ rise politics of both the parties.

Tamil Nadu and neighbouring Puducherry Union Territory go to the polls on April 6. The electioneering is gaining momentum. Soon the state will witness a high pitch poll campaign. Close to the heels of PM Modi’s one-day visit to launch a slew of developmental projects in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, his cabinet colleague and trusted lieutenant Amit Shah addressed poll rallies in the union territory and Tamil Nadu. In Villupuram , BJP took out a Vijay Sankalp Rally.

He launched a broadside against both Congress and DMK for its attaching importance to rising ‘son’ issue. While DMK chief M K Stalin wanted to make his son Udhyanidhi the state Chief Minister and party chief during his lifetime, Sonia Gandhi was worried about making her son Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister. He appealed to the people to be wary of this and elect between the ‘sons’ and daughters of kings and emperors’ and Prime Minister Modi’s developmental agenda.

He said, “The DMK-Congress alliance focuses on dynasty politics. They are synonymous with corruption. They only care about their families, neither the State nor the nation. I request people to re-elect the NDA with an absolute majority so that we can further our efforts towards the development of the state”.

The Union Home Minister said “On one side, there is the NDA that protects Bharat. Today none can dare do anything in Bharat’s borders. Pakistan dared to do things in Uri, Pulwama. Prime Minister Modi taught them a befitting lesson by entering its house ( and carry out attacks) by ordering the defence forces. On the other side, you have the DMK and Congress parties. They are bothered only by their families. They are in steep corruption and do the politics of divide and rule. Sonia ji is worried about making Rahul Gandhi Prime Minister. Stalin is worried about making Udhayanidhi Chief Minister. They are not worried about the country. They are worried about their family”.

Amit Shah said that he was confident that the TN voters would vote for the AIADMK alliance after making up their mind to choose between the DMK and AIADMK coalitions. “You have to decide in the coming days. Amit Shah said, “Whether give the rule to sons and daughters of kings and emperors or vote for the development of Tamil Nadu. Whether to make Udhyanidhi the chief minister or the welfare of fishermen. Whether to make Rahul Gandhi Prime Minister or for taking Modi’s developmental agenda forward. The people of Tamil Nadu have to decide. They have to choose the BJP’s “Lotus” and the AIADMK’s Two Leaves” symbols. AIADMK alliance will work on the philosophy of late Chief Ministers MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa.

Earlier addressing a public meeting in Karaikkal in Puducherry union territory, Shah alleged that V Naryanaswamy gave “cut money to the Gandhi family” from Rs. 15000 crore Central funds. He said Congress-led alliance government that lost majority indulged in petty politics over Central schemes meant for the union territory. Modi government gave more than 115 schemes for its overall development and to make a model Union territory, ‘but there was a government that wanted to do petty politics. They were afraid that if the projects become popular, it may become detrimental to Congress’s prospects”.

He appealed to the voters, “ give us a chance to make a small change in the UT. ‘ the jewel of India and take it across the world. So many senior leaders of Congress are joining BJP not only in Puducherry but also across the nation”, he added. Questioning the previous Congress-led government he asked, “where did the Rs.15,000 crore given by PM Modi go? Narayanaswamy made cut money out of it and sent it to in service of the Gandhi family in Delhi. You ( Puducherry people) made such a liar your Chief Minister. Narayanaswamy can be given an award for lying”. The bitter back- and –forth over the question of an exclusive and dedicated fisheries ministry, Amit Shah mocked him for not knowing that there has been a separate department.

Shah expressed regret over being unable to speak in the great Tamil language. Former Congress MLA John Kumar, ex DMK MLA K Venkatesan, Speaker Sivakolundu’s brother VK Ramalingam and son Ramesh have joined the BJP in Shah’s presence. Kumar was once a close aide of Naryanaswamy. Lawspet Congress MLA V P Sivakolundhu has resigned from the Assembly Speaker post citing health grounds.

Amit Shah attended the BJP Puducherry Core Committee at Karaiakkal and Tamil Nadu core committee meeting in Villupuram.
