Kolkata/Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday made somewhat a new kind of political attack on Mamata Banerjee exposing the double standards of Trinamool and the Leftists as the BJP gave a major boost to its election campaign both in West Bengal and Assam.

“There is a match fixing between Trinamool, Left and Congress. Voting for Left and Congress would actually mean helping those behind these match fixing. In fact, the Poriborton Mamata brought in by ousting the Leftists actually meant the revival of the Communists,” Prime Minister said addressing a mega rally at Haldia in poll-bound West Bengal.

Lashing out at political opponents in a state where BJP was a minor player till two years back, the Prime Minister said the revival of the Left actually also meant the revival of corruption, crime and attacks on democracy.

Mr Modi’s statement is seen as politically significant and candid as immediacy after coming to power in 2011, the West Bengal Chief Minister had made her intention clear and had turned ‘more Leftist than the Leftists themselves’. In fact, she carried on the political arrogance of the Marxists and also virtually legitimized political violence and even surpassed the Leftists in appeasing Muslims.

The Prime Minister kept in mind the well-known fact that people of West Bengal have much fascination for the game of football and thus he said, “Bengal is a state of football lovers and so I will use the language of football. Trinamool Congress has committed so far too many fouls – the foul of corruption and the foul of neglecting the poor.

Taking a dig at the Trinamool chief for her public disapproval of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogan; the Prime Minister said while Mamata Banerjee easily gets annoyed when asked development during her stint and also by listening to the chant of Jai Shri Ram, “but she does not say a word at international conspiracies to defame India”.

“Repeated attempts are being made at India’s image, but has Mamata reacted?” Prime Minister inaugurated a liquefied petroleum gas import terminal built by Bharat Petroleum at an investment of Rs 1100 crore.

A statement from PMO has said the new project would help West Bengal and other states in the eastern and northeastern states to get clean LPG to every household.

West Bengal and Assam and also Tamil Nadu and Kerala will have respective assembly elections by April-May this year. In Dhekiajudi in Assam, not far from Guwahati, the Prime Minister said “personally” he knows that Assam tea is world class. But he lamented some attempts are being made to run state’s most famous and acclaimed product.

“Every tea garden, every tea worker will seek answers from these political parties behind the conspiracy,” he said.
A toolkit ‘leaked’ in social media by child protester Greta Thunberg on Feb 3 had claimed that there is a well-prepared plan to defame and disrupt India’s image overseas vis-a- vis India’s two well known ‘products’ – Tea and Yoga.

It goes without stating that Assam produces half of India tea. “Will you accept those praising these attackers?,” the Prime Minister asked the mammoth gathering.

The Prime Minister laid the foundation of two medical colleges at Biswanath and Charaideo and launched much ambitious ‘Assam Mala’ project seeking to upgrade highways.

Assam is under BJP-led Sarbananda Sonowal regime and the saffron party is confident of retaining power by winning 100 plus seats in the 126-member assembly.

On Saturday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched a scheme under which as many as 746667 tea garden workers got Rs 3000 each.

In Bengal, the BJP national president J P Nadda has already launched a Parivartan Yatra.
