Saif Ali Khan on Sunday issued an apology for his remarks made on Ravana’s ‘humane’ interpretation in Adipurush saying it was never his intention to hurt people’s sentiments.

The apology came after the remarks he made in the interview received widespread condemnation.

“I’ve been made aware that one of my statements during an interview has caused a controversy and hurt people’s sentiments. This was never my intention or meant that way. I would like to sincerely apologise to everybody and withdraw my statement, Saif Ali Khan said in a statement.

“Lord Ram has always been the symbol of Righteousness and Heroism for me. Adipurush is about celebrating the victory of good over evil and the entire team is working together to present the epic without any distortions,” he further said.

In a recent interview, Saif Ali Khan had said, “It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient; justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off her nose.”

Saif Ali Khan has said that the movie will justify the reason behind the abduction of Maa Sita. The movie ‘Adipurush’ is reportedly based on Ramayana and actor Prabhas will play the role of Lord Ram.

Saif Ali Khan further said that the movie makers have decided to portray his war with Lord Ram as a revenge to Lakshman’s treatment to her sister Surpanakha.

“It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off his nose,” he added.

Maharashtra BJP leader Ram Kadam took to Twitter and said “Actor #SaifAliKhan makes an extremely shocking statement regarding his forthcoming film Adipurush. Saif who plays Ravan’s character says Ravan’s abduction of Sita Maa will be justified in the film. Ravan’s humane side will be shown and his war against Sri Ram will be justified.”

“Director @OmRaut director, you made #Tanhaji which was well received worldwide because it does justice to Hindu pride and Marathi asmita. But if #Adhipurush plans to show Ravan in a positive light and justify the inhuman act of abduction of Sita Maa,” he further said.

It is notable that Saif Ali Khan has always been a person who has the reputation of being a history buff, Saif Ali Khan’s knowledge of history is really terrible. In an interview after his movie success ‘Tanhaji’ he said, “I don’t think there was a concept of India till the British gave it one”.
