In a serious development, a huge cache of arms and explosives were seized from the CPM stronghold of Kizhakke Palayad which falls under Dharmadam assembly constituency represented by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The huge collection of explosives were seized after the workers under the employment guarantee scheme were clearing the bushes in a property which was vacant.

With the Local body polls in Kannur district scheduled for December 15, the seizure of arms and explosives have raised eyebrows as the CPM had butchered a BJP, RSS worker Santhosh Kumar in this area a few years ago.
A large posse of police force led by Dharmadam Inspector Sreejith seized the arms and explosives and defused the bombs using the expertise of bomb squads.

The CPM is in a spot over several allegations and central agencies including Enforcement Directorate, National Investigation Agency, Customs are unearthing several misdeeds of the LDF government since the past few months.

The most powerful bureaucrat of the state, M Shivshankar IAS who was the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister is now languishing in jail. The son of CPM politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Bineesh Kodiyeri is arrested in a drug trafficking and money laundering case and is lodged in Parappara Agrahara central jail in Bangalore. It may be noted that Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was forced to resign from the post of CPM state secretary following the arrest of his son.

Interestingly CPM has always resorted to killings of RSS and BJP workers when the party is cornered and the seizure of huge cache of arms and explosives from the CPM stronghold has made political observers believe that the CPM is planning for a killing spree either in the run-up to the LSG polls or after the results are declared.

BJP candidate for the Kannur district panchayath from Pinarayi division, V Manivarnan said that the state police must be vigilant on the activities of CPM criminal gangs. He said ” CPM is trying to create an atmosphere of fear to prevent voters from casting their franchise by evoking murdererous tactics and Kannur district has witnessed to several blood baths initiated by the CPM in the past”.
