    Renowned Hindi writer, Former Governor of Goa Mridula Sinha passed away on Wednesday, November 18. She was 77. Mridula Sinha was born on November 27, 1942, at Chhapra village in Bihar. Renowned Hindi writer, Former Governor of Goa Mridula Sinha passed away on Wednesday, November 18. She was 77.
 
Mridula Sinha was born on November 27, 1942, at Chhapra village in Bihar. She was also the first woman Governor of Goa.
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the death of former Goa governor Mridula Sinha and said she was also a proficient writer who had made extensive contributions to the world of literature and culture.
 
 
“Smt. Mridula Sinha Ji will be remembered for her efforts towards public service. She was also a proficient writer, making extensive contributions to the world of literature as well as culture. Anguished by her demise. Condolences to her family and admirers. Om Shanti,” PM Modi tweeted.
 
Veteran BJP leader LK Advani in his condolence message said she was an inspiration to many, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of Mridula Sinha, senior BJP leader and former Governor of Goa. She was the ideal of many people. Mridula ji dedicated her life to the service of the country, party and people. He also contributed significantly to women’s empowerment, upliftment of the weaker sections and weaker sections of the society. Along with this, he also wrote many books that influenced ideas and made great contributions in the field of literature.
 
“She was a brilliant figure. He impressed many with his warm and kind nature. It was always a pleasure to meet him. He hosted me and my family in Goa Raj Bhavan in 2019 and we spent a memorable week with him and his family”, LK Advani further added.
 
Mridula Sinha was a prolific writer and wrote short stories on matters pertaining to culture and village traditions.
Some of her noted works include Dampatya Ki Dhoop-Chhanh (on marriage), Sita Puni Boli, Ahalya Uvach, Jyon Mehandi Ke Rang, Atishaya, among others.
 
She also wrote the biography of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia called Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi.
