World Students’ Day 2020: Nation pays tribute to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah paid tributes to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary today.
In a tweet, Shri Narendra Modi said, the country can never forget the indelible contributions of Dr. Kalam both as a President and a Scientist towards national development. He said, the life journey of Dr. Kalam gives strength to millions.
Home minister Amit Shah wrote on Twitter, “Remembering Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on his jayanti. A visionary leader and architect of India’s space & missile programmes, who always wanted to build a strong and self-reliant India. His immortal legacy in the field of science and education is an epitome of inspiration.”
Marking the birth anniversary of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, World Students’ Day is celebrated every year on October 15. The United Nations declared October 15 as World Students’ Day in 2010. In 2005, Switzerland also declared May 26 as ‘Science Day’ to commemorate Dr Kalam’s visit to the European country.
This year, the theme of World Students’ Day is ‘Learning for people, planet, prosperity, and peace’.
