Images of Chinese troops armed with stick-machetes during their deployment along the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh have emerged today.
In the photographs, Chinese soldiers can be clearly seen standing with stick machetes even with their rifles slung on their back.
It may be recalled that the Chinese troops had attacked Indian soldiers with stones, nail-studded sticks, iron rods and clubs during the Galwan Valley clashes in eastern Ladakh on June 15 in which 20 Indian Army personnel were martyred. In retaliation, as many as 35 Chinese soldiers were also killed.
The Indian Army on Tuesday had said that while India is committed to disengagement and de-escalating situation on the LAC, China continues to undertake provocative activities to escalate. At no stage has the Indian Army transgressed across the LAC or resorted to use of any aggressive means, including firing.
Indian Army had accused the PLA of blatantly violating agreements and carrying out aggressive manoeuvres, while engagement at military, diplomatic and political level is in progress.
On Monday, China’s PLA troops attempted to close-in with one of the forward positions along the LAC & when dissuaded by own troops, PLA troops fired a few rounds in the air.
