“Insurance, social security, re-employment assistance, provision for unemployment allowance etc are some of the factors which will be looked into by the commission,” Shri Yogi Adityanath said.

“The migrant workers are our biggest resource and will give them employment in Uttar Pradesh as state government is going to set up a commission for their employment,” said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday. He was speaking in a webinar organised by Organiser Weekly and Panchjanya.

“Any state which wanted migrant workers of Uttar Pradesh back has to seek permission from the state government and need to ensure their socio-legal-monetary rights,” Shri Yogi Adityanath added.

As per the feedback received from migrant workers, who reached Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said safeguarding their rights should get utmost attention and importance.

“All migrant workers are being registered and their skills mapped. Any state or entity interested in inviting migrant workers will need to assure and provide for their socio-legal-monetary rights,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the commission had been proposed to look into various factors associated with migrant workers’ rights and to prevent exploitation while providing an official framework to ensure socio-economic-legal support for them. “Insurance, social security, re-employment assistance, provision for unemployment allowance etc are some of the factors which will be looked into by the commission,” he said.

The UP Chief Minister said that over 23 lakh of migrant workers had returned to the state by the efforts of the state government till date. “75 per cent of those who came from Mumbai and 50 per cent from Delhi were tested positive for COVID-19,” he added.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “effectively handling COVID-19 crisis”, and said India was in a secured position due to the timely decisions taken by the government at the Centre.

About generating new employment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said a German company was shifting its production facility from China to India and might start manufacturing more than 30 lakh shoes in Agra.
