Advocate Digvijay Trivedi who was representing the Sadhus lynched in Palghar last month has died in a road accident while on his way to the court. It has been reported that Trivedi died in the accident which happened on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway near Manor yesterday while he was heading the the court in Dhanau. Suspicions have been expressed on the accident given its timing.

Digvijay Trivedi (32) was representing the Hindu sadhus on behalf of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. On Wednesday he was scheduled to present his case before the court in Dhanau where the hearing in the case are going on. He was a resident of Bhaynder and also headed the legal cell of the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi.

Maharashtra police had arrested 141 people in the case where a mob of 300 plues people lyched 2 Sadhus and their driver to death. All the arrested have been remanded to judicial custody while the minors among them have been sent to juvenile home.

Lynching which shocked the nation

The brutal lynching of 2 Sadhus in Palghar in Maharastra on 16th April had shocked and angered the entire nation.  The sadhus Kalpavriksha Giri (70) and Sushil Giri who belonged to the Juna Akhara were beaten to death by a murderous mob of over 300 people with sticks in Gadchinchale village of Palghar. The incident which took place on April 16th came to light only when the video of the incident was shared on social media.

Initial reports suggested that the villagers lynched them on suspicion of theft and kidnapping of children. Later it was revealed that a nexus of CPM and Chrisitan Missionaries had brainwashed the local people against Hindus and the lynching could have been pre-planned.

In a video that was shared on social media, the Sadhus were seen accompanying the police but the mob snatched them and started to beat them with sticks. The police who were outnumbered were mute spectators as the three were lynched. Any number of pleas of they being innocents did not deter the mob which was determined to kill them. The failure of the Maharashtra police who were present at the spot to save the Sadhus from being lynched indicated the failure of law and order in the state.
