In a noble act, Rima Ghosh, Joint Secretary of Rangia Unit of ABVP Assam has donated an amount of Rs 1 Lakh from her savings for Marriage to the Assam CM’s Relief Fund. The amount was handed over to Shri Bhapesh Kalita, MLA of Rangia.
Rima Ghosh is from Rangia in Assam. She was preparing for her UPSC examinations and planning to pursue a postgraduate degree when the lockdown was announced.
Rima Ghosh says that she decided to donate as she wanted to help in the fight against Corona. She informs that she donated half of the money i.e Rs. 1,00,099 that was saved for her marriage. “My father has been saving this money since I was six years old for my marriage. I had thought of using it for my Master’s degree but before I could act upon it the Coronavirus pandemic struck us hard. That’s when I decided to donate the funds to help the people as far as I can,” says Rima.
Rima said that she thanks her father too for he noble deed as he gave her his permission to donate. Rima has urged people to come forward and donate to the cause. As of today, 43 people have tested positive for COVID19 in Assam with 1 death. With her noble act that too with the money earmarked for her marrige, Rima has set an example for all youth of the country.
