Veteran actor Rajinikant addressed the media today amid high expectations about his entry into electoral politics. Setting all speculations to rest, he said that he is not in the race for the Chief Minister’s post as he never wanted to become one.

He further said that it would be wrong to say that he has been delaying his entry into politics since 1996 as he announced the formation of his party on 31st December 2017 only after the demise of Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa with the only aim to fill the vacuum created by their passing away.

He explained saying, “The present political system is rotten and needs to be revamped. It is my first priority. Secondly I had to take on the mighty DMK and AIADMK. Both had the muscle and money power. Youth should come forward for a total transformation and for a corruption free, people friendly government with a developmental agenda.”

Rajinikanth said that had he wanted to be the Chief Minister, he could have got it in 1996 itself. Making his goal clear, he said he would remain at the helm of the affairs of the party leaving the post of CM and ministerial berths to young and educated people.

In Tamil Nadu, there are two political giants, who are well settled. On the one side we have a party that has not been in power for almost a decade, backed by a strong organizational structure with committed cadre and willing to pump resources to grab power. On the other side, we have a ruling party with its hold over the government treasury. Between these two mighty giants, we have to make an entry. It will not be a cakewalk, he warned his followers.

Unveiling a three point agenda he said that his party will focus on quality work rather than quantity. His 3-point agenda are:

– Have as fewer party posts as possible to avoid corruption within the party and focus on effective functioning.

– Honest, educated and youth who have a good reputation in the society and without any political backing will be given 60 to 65 percent of the seats to contest in the polls. The rest would be given to IAS, IPS officials, judges with a clean record who have the intention to serve people and the society.

– Thirdly, there would be two heads –one for the party and another for the government- for effective deliverance of poll promises and good governance. The party head would be helped by a panel of experts from all fields to advise him on various schemes and ensure its implementation through the government head.

He appealed to the people of TN to support him in his mission to install a corruption free, visionary government in the state which would lead it on the path of progress, prosperity and development.
