Former JNU student and the main organiser of the Shaheen Bagh protest, Sharjeel Imam has been arrested from Bihar’s Jehanabad. Cases have been registered against in five states across the country for urging Muslims to gather at ‘Chickens Neck’ (Siliguri Corridor) and cut-off North-East from rest of India!

A columnist in far-left rag The Wire, Imam was on the run for the last many days since his speech video went viral. Sharjeel Imam’s brother was also arrested by the police in connection with anti-national and communal speeches at the anti-CAA protest.

Sharjeel Imam is one of the key organisers of the protests at Shaheen Bagh. Delhi Police revealed that he had delivered an inflammatory speech earlier on the Jamia Milia Islamia campus and an FIR had been registered against him.

Another case was registered against Imam in Assam under the anti-terror law, taking cognisance of his remark that Assam must be “cut off from rest of India India”. Police in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh had also lodged FIRs against Imam in connection with the same incident.

The bonhomie between the Islamists and the Tukde-Tukde gang was exposed when the same Sharjeel says that to cut-off North-East from the rest of the country, they will employ the services of Kanhaiya Kumar and his ilk. He is heard saying, “We will cut the Chicken neck of India so that the Indian Army will not be able to reach Assam. We will use Kanhaiya Kumar to instigate people living in Chicken neck area”.

Meanwhile, his mother told the media that her son was “not a law-breaker and he had been in favour of “calling off” the agitation at Shaheen Bagh. A few hitherto unknown JNUSU representatives came forward to organise a protest march in support of Sharjeel Imam inside JNU on January 27.
